Ain't I a Woman: A Complicated Story of Women's Suffrage in Black and White

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, the Mary McLeod Bethune Council House National Historic Site and the Sewall–Belmont House & Museum, along with the National Archives Experience, will present a panel discussion on the women’s suffrage movement and its lasting impact on race and gender in the United States.
The panelists will draw from the unique historic parallel perspectives of the Sewall-Belmont House & Museum and the Mary McLeod Bethune Council House National Historic Site legacies to analyze the women’s rights movement.

Entrepreneurship Is On The Rise - And Women Are Leading The Way!

Join entrepreneur Karetta Hubbard as she discusses the many obstacles
blocking the publishing landscape. She will also discuss and answer
questions about her book Satan's Chamber and Fuze Publishing.
Karetta will be joined by Andrea Fuller, the founder and CEO of
MindFarm, the go-to resource for interim executives for strategic and
operating needs, and she is a part-time stand-up comic.
Rounding out the panel is Karen Finney, an independent consultant
working with political and corporate clients in the United States and
globally in the areas of political and communication strategy, and
public affairs. Karen is also a political analyst for MSNBC and a
contributor to Politico and the Huffington Post.
Susan Scanlan, The Women's Research and Education Institute's
President, will moderate this outstanding panel. In November 2005,
Ms. Scanlan was elected chair of the National Council of Women's
Organizations, a coalition of over 240 progressive women's groups
representing more than 12 million American women.

Cokie Roberts is not only a celebrated journalist, but also the author of We Are Our Mothers' Daughters and Founding Mothers. Participating artists are graduates and members of the EWI's Art Business Incubator and Micro-enterprise. The program creates entrepreneurial opportunities and sustainable livelihoods for immigrant, unemployed, and low income women artists.

The Alice Award is named after Alice Paul -- suffragist, human rights activist and founder of the National Woman’s Party. This year we are pleased to recognize Hillary Rodham Clinton for her lifetime commitment to public service. As an attorney, children’s advocate, First Lady, US Senator and Secretary of State, Secretary Clinton's accomplishments are unique in American history. We honor her as a role model for all women and also as an advocate for historic preservation. |
