Employment Opportunities
At the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum, headquarters of the historic National Woman's Party, we celebrate the legacy of NWP founder, Alice Paul, and the NWP in the history of women's progress toward equality. Through our guided museum tours, educational programs, exhibits and outreach services we honor this history by exploring the evolving role of women and their contributions to society.
The museum employs full-time, part-time and hourly professionals as well as offers volunteer opportunities. Employment opportunities are listed below. All applicants must complete and submit an employment application.

Docent Opportunities
Help us share inspiring stories of women's achievements as a docent leading museum tours, assisting with educational programs and outreach or staffing special events (or all three, if your schedule permits). Docents can work in either a paid or volunteer capacity.
Museum Docents
Museum docents lead public and group tours during museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday, and during museum-sponsored events. Museum docents are trained and hired throughout the year.
Work schedules are flexible and updated monthly. Saturday docents are expected to work at least one Saturday per month and one Saturday per year that falls on a "holiday" weekend; weekday docents are expected to work at least two days per month.
Program Docents
Program docents assist staff at educational and public programs which take place throughout the week during the day or in the evening. Duties may include helping to set-up for a program, welcoming and checking in attendants, facilitating discussions, leading hands-on children's activities, giving abbreviated Museum tours, and assisting with closing and clean up. Educational programs are geared to elementary and middle schools and may occur off-site.
The schedule is flexible, but there is a minimum commitment of one program (educational or public) per month.
Event Docents
Event docents are expected to have a basic knowledge of Alice Paul, the National Woman's Party and the history of the House though not as extensive as that of Museum Docents. While working, Event Docents act as stewards of the House; opening the House for vendor access and set-up, greeting guests while arriving and departing, facilitating guest and vendor questions before, during and after the event, ensuring that the House is secure once the event is completed, and other responsibilities as assigned.
Most events occur weekday evenings and on Saturdays. Occasionally, weekday morning/afternoon and Sunday events are scheduled. Because our event schedule fluctuates, scheduling can be quite flexible. However, Event Docents are required to work at least one weekday event and one weekend event per month.
